Baby Registry Favorites
Creating a baby registry can be a little overwhelming. There are countless options when deciding on a certain item, some cheap, some over priced, some worth it, and some not. And then there are the hidden gems that you didn’t even know existed until after your baby arrived but were live savers. After creating two registries for my babies I have composed a short list of a few of my favorite things that I personally purchased and loved. I hope you find it helpful!
I know it is a little pricey for a crib mattress, but I promise the peace of mind and convince of this mattress make that price completely worth it.
I had no idea how important a sound machine was when I gave birth to my son. This thing was a live saver and still is for a better nights sleep.
Not only did I have no idea about sound machines, but I honestly had no idea about awake windows, ideal sleep environments, laying down awake etc. I really struggled with my son for months, and if I’m being honest we still do occasionally 3 years later. I do not regret for a second holding him to sleep as much as I did, or even safely co-sleeping for several months, but I do wish I had more sleep knowledge prior to his arrival. So even if sleep training is not your jam, the information Cara provides in this class, on her blog, and through her instagram is incredibly helpful.
4. Baby Carries
If you google baby carries you will find plenty of options – both in style and in price range. My personal favorite baby carries are the Solly Wrap, Happy Baby Carrier, and Hope and Plum ring slings. I have used all three at different stages and for different reasons and have loved them all equally.
My son loved being swaddled so I never struggled to find “the perfect one”. My daughter was a different story. She hated being swaddled and would manage to get her arms free in seconds so the search for the “perfect swaddle” began. I know when I first heard of this swaddle I thought “they are ripping people off for a glorified velcro blanket”. I promise, the are not. This is the perfect swaddle.
Another item I thought was overpriced, and while I still do think it is over priced, as a second time mom moving all over the house through out the day and needing a safe place for baby, this thing was perfect.
7. Owlet Sock
I had pretty bad postpartum anxiety with my son so this was another device I decided was necessary for baby number two. I slept so much more soundly (and still do) knowing the Owlet will alert me if needed. And we all know how important sleep is with a newborn.
8. Earth Mama Organic Nipple Butter
If you are choosing and able to nurse your baby this specific brand works so well.
9. Postpartum Care Kit
This includes, but is not limited to: tucks, Always Maxi Pads, perineal bottles, dermoplast, water bottle, comfy pajamas, loose nursing bras, etc. You just gave birth to a beautiful baby and your body is going to need a few things to help it recover PLUS a few things that make you feel good – you deserve it.
If I’m being honest I purchased this originally solely for the way it looked, but now after using it everyday, multiple times a day, for over three years I can honestly say this thing is worth it. Super easy to wipe down, comfortable, and the little sides hold squirmy babies in place.
11. Loverly Play Mat
A great little play mat that encourages development – and as a bonus big brothers love it too.
Don’t underestimate a good set of black out curtains – both for baby and mom.
If you haven’t guessed it already, I really did not prepare prior to my son being born. I purchased several books on different topics regarding pregnancy and newborn stages, but I just couldn’t get into them. Online courses saved me. If you are at all nervous to start feeding your baby solids (like I was) this is a great resource.
14. Baby Bum Brush
Simple but effective.
15. The Haakaa
If you hate pumping, but still want to start a freezer stash this little thing is so handy.
I’ll stop there (because I like my numbers in 5’s), but I hope this list was helpful. If you have a tried and true baby product that you personally love that I did not mention be sure to leave it in the comments.
